Bolzano Superinox

An Italian brand, but made in Germany. The perfect blend of flair and engineering?

1st blade > 1st shave
Proraso Eucalytus & Menthol Shave Cream

I thought it was dragging to start with, but it soon settled down and left me with a pretty good end result. I had to do a lot of touching up, and even then some of the harder to reach spots weren’t smooth. Even on areas like my cheeks it wasn’t left as close as with some blades. No nicks or irritation though.

1st blade > 2nd shave
Arko Shave Stick

It felt smoother from the start this time, but I ended up with several nicks. The end result wasn’t as patchy, but I felt I had to do plenty of touching up to achieve that. ATG still didn’t feel as smooth as with some of the other blades I’ve used, but generally a very good shave.

2nd blade > 1st shave
Proraso Eucalytus & Menthol Shave Cream

As with the first blade, I thought it tugged, at least to begin with. Not too bad when I switched to ATG, though I did pick up a few nicks, nothing that wasn’t sealed by the cold water. It wasn’t BBS, but it was nice and smooth pretty much everywhere.

2nd blade > 2nd shave
The Real Shaving Co. Sensitive Shave Cream Classic

The blade tugged a little on the WTG pass, and scraped on my neck when I went ATG. I picked up more than a few nicks, though none serious enough to last past the cold water washdown, and some irritation on my neck. It wasn’t the closest or most uniform shave I’ve had.

2nd blade > 3rd shave
Edwin Jagger Sandalwood Soap

The blade scraped throughout, making it a less than comfortable experience. I also picked up a few nicks, though no more than with most blades I’ve used. I did get some irritation on my top lip too though, but that may be because I didn’t manage to produce as good a lather as usual. The end result was smooth, though not BBS, with only the odd rougher patch.

2nd blade > 4th shave
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap

Much smoother on the fast pass this time, but again a bit of a scrape going ATG. I picked up fewer nicks, and those I did sealed themselves before I’d finished. I felt like I needed to do a bit more touching up than usual, but the end result was very good, close to BBS on all but my neck.

Not the most comfortable experience in use, but generally a good (if not exceptional) performer. I found it gave a largely smooth finish.
