Another fragrance from this long-standing shaving company.
This is a quick review of a product I have looked at previously in more detail.
Used with: Gillette Super Thin (4th shave)
I left the puck dry as I loaded for thirty seconds using my synthetic brush. I was able to generate plenty of lather that lasted throughout. Slickness was pretty average. I picked up a few tiny nicks due to a desire for perfection, but these sealed themselves before I even reached cold water. My neck was okay, aside from the usual trouble-spots. Nowhere was rough, but then nowhere was particularly close either. WTG my face was smooth. ATG, despite my efforts, there was plenty of resistance. No real roughness though. Post shave feel was okay, soft but dry. This has a pretty strong fragrance compared to the other soaps in this range. I got a good whiff of almond as I worked it up. That didn’t translate into the shave though as it essentially disappeared. Just about a good shave.
As with the other Col. Conk soaps I’ve tried, there was nothing really wrong with this. It lathered well, it provided adequate protection and a pleasant shave.
Similarly, it lacked any fragrance, the post shave feel was average and I didn’t get a great finish.
For the price, it’s hard to complain too much. This is a workhorse soap and nothing more. If you want a great experience, tons of fragrance or a super-smooth finish then you’ll need to look elsewhere.
