A classic soap in a classic scent.
Another quick review of a product I have previously looked at in detail.
Used with: Gillette Super Thin Platinum (2nd shave)
I left the puck dry and loaded up with my synthetic brush. I dipped the bristles a few times during loading as I wasn’t getting much in the way of suds. This seemed to help and I had plenty for my usual routine. Slickness felt pretty good and I didn’t pick up any nicks. My neck was very good, with the only hints of roughness in my trouble-spots. It was also good WTG on my face. There was some resistance ATG, but only one area was borderline rough. Post shave feel was quite soft, but very dry. I got a strong whiff of the almond as I worked the lather, but don’t recall it after that. A very good shave.
Obviously it’s hard to judge from a single shave, but this seemed to exceed my experience with other soaps in the range.
For starters, it actually had a fragrance. One I could detect. The others struggled to muster much olfactory action even with my hooter pressed up against them.
Slickness was good and I achieved a nice finish.
Lather, once I applied enough water, was also easy to generate and I had more than enough for my needs.
This seemed to differ markedly from my prior experiences and showed why Col. Conk has survived for so long.
