Another of the Trumper range, this time with a more common fragrance.
Used with: Personna Platinum (2nd shave)
I went with my badger brush and worked up a small amount of cream into a good lather. Although thick enough to clog my blade on the first pass, I wonder if I overdid it on the water. Slickness was average and I picked up more than a few nicks. Most were sealed by cold water. My neck was better than usual, though still not perfect, but I still had a few rough areas around my jawline. My face was smooth with no real rough patches. A couple of places made it to BBS ATG, but they were the exception rather than the rule. Post shave feel was pretty good. The fragrance is quite muted, to the point I had to hunt for it, but it was there throughout the shave. It smelt towards the artificial end of the spectrum to me, a sweet lime rather than the usual citrus tang. A good shave though.
Used with: Feather Hi-Stainless (1st shave)
I used my boar brush this time and had no problems producing plenty of lather. It was thick enough to clog my blade on the first pass. Slickness wasn’t bad, though not as good as some. I only picked up one nick though and that sealed itself before the shave was done. My neck wasn’t bad, but neither was it perfect. Roughness was largely restricted to my jawline. Apart from a patch on the chin, my face was nice and smooth. Didn’t quite make BBS ATG though. Post shave feel was pleasant, leaving my face nice and soft. The fragrance is there, but so dialled back that you have to hunt for it. I can’t say I noticed it during the shave. A good shave.
Used with: Rapira Super Stainless (4th shave)
Going back to my badger brush, I scooped out the remains of the sample pot, which were more than enough to create a rich, thick lather. Slickness felt good and I only picked up a single nick, which was sealed by cold water. My neck wasn’t perfect, but the only patches were at my jawline. My face wasn’t perfect either, but was generally smooth. Nowhere quite made it to BBS ATG but a number of places came close. Post shave feel was good. I barely noticed the scent again, though when I looked for it I could just pick it up. Again, I’d say it was more lime sweets than actual limes. A good shave.
Another solid-performing cream. It was easy to lather, gave good slickness and protection and generally allowed me to have a good shave. I also enjoyed the post shave feel.
Unlike the other Trumper products I have tried, this doesn’t have a fragrance unique to them, opting for a lime scent instead, which many brands offer. It’s certainly not as synthetic as some, but wasn’t quite as authentic as the Truefitt one for me. It’s also not particularly strong, although that’s not a bad thing (it would be an odd scent to have around you all day).
So not my favourite of the Trumper’s range, but another good entry.
