Gillette 7 o'clock Super Stainless

Another of the extensive 7 O’Clock range from Gillette. Are they all the same, just in different packets? Doesn’t look like it.

1st blade > 1st shave
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap

It seemed to drag a bit, and left me with quite a few nicks. I had to do a fair bit of touching up and, while the end result was pretty smooth, there were still some rough patches.

1st blade > 2nd shave
Truefitt & Hill Authentic No. 10 Finest Shave Cream

No drag this time, and I ended up with a fantastically smooth shave across the majority of my face. It did require a fair bit of touching up again though. A little bit of razor burn on my lip, and a few nicks from trying too hard.

2nd blade > 1st shave
Groomed Shave Cream

It felt like it pulled initially, but it settled down. I picked up a couple of small nicks and some irritation on my top lip, but nothing too bad. After some touching up I ended up with a good result, in some places it was super smooth, and generally good all over.

2nd blade > 2nd shave
Edwin Jagger Sandlewood Soap

Smooth throughout, and I picked up few nicks. It took a bit of touching up again, but I finished with a few smooth patches ATG, it was only passable in most places though.

2nd blade > 3rd shave
Proraso Eucalyptus & Menthol Shave Cream

The blade felt fine throughout, but again, I picked up a few small nicks (a few more than last time), plus a little dryness. Having said that, while the end result wasn’t BBS it was smooth and generally very good all over.

2nd blade > 4th shave
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap

It was smooth WTG, but some definite scraping when I switched to ATG. That was reflected in the splattering of nicks I picked up all over. It was worth it for a great end result though. BBS in places, and great in all but a few small patches. I did do some touching up, but not as much as I have been doing. Very impressed with the finish.

It tended to leave me with a few nicks and some irritation, but equally the result was usually a good shave, bordering on great.
