A moisturiser from a big-name in men’s grooming.
Okay, so again, not strictly a shaving product, but I’ve seen this used as a post shave balm — which is essentially designed to put back some of the moisture you may have stripped out while shaving. Moisturisers are designed to put moisture back, so not a million miles away.
My main gripe with this is the claim that it’s non-greasy, non-sticky and is absorbed quickly, which is entirely untrue is my experience. I dislike that greasy feeling being left on my hands or when I rub my face, and this hangs around for hours despite being developed for “extra fast absorption by men’s skin.”
As for scent, well there is one — Nivea claims it’s a “pleasant, masculine-fresh scent” — but it’s very subtle. Not unpleasant if you do pick it up, quite light with a slightly floral note. It’s so weak it won’t offend though.
It doesn’t claim any form of soothing and I didn’t notice any particular effect either when applied to razor burnt skin.
Hard to tell how well it moisturises as you’re simply left with a gunky, cloying layer to get through.
Perhaps a bit unfair to compare this to post shave balms, but even as a more moisturiser this fails for me. One to avoid.
