Nivea Post Shave Balm

A number of global brands also offer shave products applicable to the DE sector, but are they any good?

A bit of a different review, as I didn’t exactly keep track of use, and haven’t tried any other balms to compare.

I originally picked it up about a month after I started using a safety razor, mainly as a way to combat some of the dryness/irritation I was getting during those early missteps. I went for the Sensitive variety as it was alcohol free.

Nivea Men, being one of the bigger brands in the growing (it seems) market for men’s grooming/skincare products, was easily available at my local supermarket. It also had the advantage of being cheap (with a lot of balms being more like £10+).

It comes in a nice heavy jar (not sure if it’s glass or ceramic), which feels quality. It’s basically odourless, so no problem with it combating the smell from your shave cream, or aftershave.

I found it left my skin smooth and soft. It seems to be absorbed quickly, but I did find using a bit too much tended to make the skin feel greasy.

I think it helped damp down some of the irritation I picked up, but it didn’t eradicate it.

A good performer, at a good price. Without anything else to compare it to, it’s hard to say just how good or bad it is, but with one bottle lasting me seven months (so far), it’s going to be hard to beat on value.
