Polsilver Super Iridium

Another blade with a good reputation. While distributed by P&G in Poland, they’re made in Russia.

1st blade > 1st shave
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap

Despite hearing wonderful things about these, they didn’t provide a very smooth shave. In fact I’d say they scraped a lot. They left with quite a few nicks, shredding my top lip. I wouldn’t mind if the finish was close elsewhere, but that was decidedly patchy too. To be fair, where it was close, it was glass smooth.

1st blade > 2nd shave
Arko Shave Stick

Started off okay, but still felt like it was chewing my face up rather than slicing hair, which proved to be true. I ended up with plenty of nicks and a slash on my chin (I don’t remember it bleeding though). It also left my top lip dried out. My post shave wash down highlighted some tender areas too. Again, the finish was in places smooth, but far too patchy (despite touch ups).

1st blade > 3rd shave
Palmolive Shave Stick

As soon as I began my second pass (ATG) I could feel the roughness. Not a pleasant experience. The finish wasn’t that smooth, and was very inconsistent. My top lip was left raw again, but I picked up fewer nicks this time. Not a nice experience or result.

2nd blade > 1st shave
Edwin Jagger Sandlewood Soap

It was a comfortable shave throughout, but I picked up several significant nicks, a couple of stingers on my first pass. I had to work quite hard to get close in some places, with lots of touching up. The final finish was smooth in places, but not the closest of shaves.

2nd blade > 2nd shave
Truefitt & Hill Authentic No. 10 Finest Shave Cream

Got a good, thick lather (a little too much cream), but it provided enough glide to make for a smooth shave. I did pick up a few nicks, but mainly in touching up. The end result was generally smooth, with only the odd patch. Not quite BBS in the best places, but close. Felt like a good shave.

2nd blade > 3rd shave
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap

Again, a pleasant enough shave in terms of comfort, though I did pick up quite a few nicks, some because I spent a good deal of time touching up various areas, going over and over certain spots. The end result was still very patchy, with some smooth areas, but none that were particularly close.

2nd blade > 4th shave
Proraso Eucalyptus & Menthol Shave Cream

It felt smooth during use once again, but again I picked up plenty of nicks. I also found myself touching up a few areas several times. The end result was again patchy, with some smooth areas, but plenty that weren’t so smooth. Better result than the previous use though.

Despite getting a lot of praise, I found them to be very inconsistent in all but chewing up my face. Could be down to the combination with the razor, but while it did provide a good shave in some cases, it left me bloody far too often.
