Shark Super Chrome Blades

Shark Super Chrome

Another blade from the Shark brand, distinct if not well-known.

1st blade > 1st shave
Boots Shave Bowl Original Soap

Like the Super Stainless, it pulled rather than sliced. After two passes I was left with a lot of areas that needed touching up but, at the same time, quite a few nicks as well. I ended up with a very smooth finish across most of my face though, it just wasn’t a great experience.

1st blade > 2nd shave
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap

Again, a dragging experience and it didn’t leave a great finish after my usual two passes, requiring lots of touching up. The end result was a smooth finish, in places, but with rough patches all over, and that despite a lot of touching up.

2nd blade > 1st shave
Taylor of Old Bond Street Jermyn Street Collection Shaving Cream

It pulled from the start, and was particularly harsh when I switched to ATG. I didn’t pick up many nicks though. With a bit of touching up, the end result wasn’t bad. In places it was BBS, but there were also some rough patches.

2nd blade > 2nd shave
The Real Shaving Co. Moisturising Shave Cream

Again, the blade pulled WTG, and then scraped ATG. It meant the shave wasn’t the most pleasant experience. I only picked up a couple of nicks though, neither serious. It did result in a very good finish though, not quite BBS, but very close all over.

2nd blade > 3rd shave
Groomed Shave Cream

It didn’t feel as bad as it has on my first pass, but it bit with a vengence ATG. I ended up with a ton of nicks too. Not perhaps the closest finish I’ve had, but it was a nice, close shave all over. It wasn’t a great experience though.

2nd blade > 4th shave
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap

Again, the edge seemed to be less severe and even the ATG wasn’t as bad as it has been. The only nicks were a couple of weepers where I tried too hard. The end result was reasonably smooth, far from perfect, but passable.

Verdict

The end results were largely very good, but it came at the expense of being an uncomfortable experience.
