Super-Max Super Platinum

It says “World Renowned” on the box, but I’d not heard of the brand before. They’re made in India.

1st blade > 1st shave
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap

Nice smooth shave and a good finish. I picked up one nick, and the ATG on my neck wasn’t as close as with some, but a nice experience and end result.

1st blade > 2nd shave
Arko Shave Cream (Moist)

I definitely felt some tugging during this shave, wincingly bad at times. The end result was fairly smooth WTG, but not against it. No nicks or irritation though.

2nd blade > 1st shave
Omega Shaving Cream

Face lathering was fine, although it took some effort to build enough for a second coating. Not much slickness left behind after each pass, but I only picked up a couple of small nicks. Generally smooth throughout, but felt like it was tugging at times. End result wasn’t particularly close, and was decidedly patchy.

2nd blade > 2nd shave
Edwin Jagger Sandalwood Soap

Once again I struggled to get a good lather, and barely had enough for a second pass. I also found it left very little slickness behind. This might explain the averageness of the shave. The blade tugged, at least initially, and I picked up several nicks, though nothing serious. Despite plenty of touching up I was left with a very patchy finish, but with some smooth areas.

2nd blade > 3rd shave
Truefitt & Hill Authentic No. 10 Finest Shave Cream

A better lather should have made for a smoother shave, but the blade was much more uncomfortable this time, tugging and scraping. For all that, I only picked up one nick. I had to do a fair bit of touching up, which meant the end result was very patchy. In places it was very smooth, but it wasn’t consistent enough to call the end result good.

2nd blade > 4th shave
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap

The blade tugged and scraped again, but I only picked up the hint of a nick. That was despite of going over some areas a lot of times to try and get them smooth (and failing). There were a couple of smooth areas, but once again the finish was too patchy to be called good.

The Super Platinums are at the higher end of the Super-Max range, and while I found them to offer a generally nick-free shave, they weren’t sharp enough to give a close finish. They also became uncomfortable quite quickly¬†and offered¬†inconsistent shaves.
