Shaving soap with natural testosterone enhancers.
Used with: Bolzano Superinox (4th shave)
I added some water while I wet my face, using the run-off as a pre-shave. I then loaded for thirty seconds with my badger brush. I was quickly able to build plenty of lather. Slickness felt good but I did pick up a few nicks, though they were sealed by cold water. The finish on my neck was good, with only the odd hint of roughness. It didn’t feel especially close though. WTG my face was smooth. It was pretty good ATG too, with only the barest resistance. A couple of spots were BBS but these were the exceptions. I had some irritation. It seemed to leave my skin quite dry and taught. The fragrance was quite herby, but fresh and pleasant, I think it was the fir or the pine that dominated. A very good shave.
Used with: Gillette Nacet (3rd shave)
I sprinkled a bit of water on the top before loading for thirty seconds with my boar brush. I got plenty of lather again but it took a bit more effort to work up and I needed to add some water for the second pass. Slickness felt okay and I didn’t pick up any nicks. My neck was pretty good, with only a few hints of roughness. WTG my face was nice and smooth. ATG wasn’t bad either, with the only significant roughness around my mouth, while the rest was nice and smooth. Nowhere made it to BBS though. Post shave feel was better this time, leaving my skin soft. I got a bit of fragrance at the start, but it disappeared fairly quickly. A very good shave.
Used with: Super-Max Blue Diamond (1st shave)
I didn’t add any water to the puck before loading for thirty seconds with my badger brush. It produced plenty of lather once again. Slickness felt good but I did pick up quite a few nicks, though they sealed themselves by the time I finished. My neck wasn’t especially close and I had several areas of roughness. WTG my face was good. ATG there was a lot more resistance than usual and some areas that were stubble-strewn. Needless to say, nowhere made it to BBS. Post shave feel was pretty good. I got a whiff of the pine early on but don’t remember it after that. A pretty good shave.
Used with: Lord Super Stainless (2nd shave)
I loaded with a shaken out badger brush for thirty seconds and was able to produce plenty of lather, though I did have to add some water to help build it for both the first and second passes. Slickness didn’t feel great, in fact it was a little ‘sticky’ as I wet my face between passes. I didn’t pick up any nicks though. My neck was pretty good, with only the odd patch of roughness. WTG my face was smooth. ATG was pretty good too, though one of my cheeks had a rough patch. Nowhere made it to BBS. Post shave feel was nice. I don’t remember picking up the fragrance at all during the shave. A good shave.
Used with: Rapira Super Stainless (2nd shave)
I didn’t add any water to the puck and loaded for thirty seconds with a shaken out badger brush. No problems producing plenty of lather again. Slickness was okay and I picked up only one nick. I had a few rough patches on my neck, especially along my jawline, but it was good aside from those. WTG my face was smooth. ATG wasn’t bad, with no significant rough patches, but it wasn’t as close as I’d have liked either. Nowhere was close to BBS. Post shave feel was nice enough. Despite actively looking for the fragrance I couldn’t detect it at any point. A good shave.
Uses all natural ingredients plus pine pollen and Tribulus Terrestris, which are testosterone boosters (apparently). It was a present, I didn’t pick it for that reason.
It doesn’t actually state how much is in the tin on the label. It’s wide, but quite shallow, good for loading. The suggestion is it holds about 70g. So it’s not the cheapest soap out there, but it’s not extortionate.
I had no problems getting a good lather from it no matter how I loaded, only needing to add a bit of water on occasion. I didn’t feel it was particularly cushioning though and I picked up a few nicks.
Post shave feel wasn’t bad and I was able to get some good shaves, but the quality varied. The fragrance started off okay, but I couldn’t pick it up on later uses, even when I was hunting for it. So it’s not something to buy for that reason.
To be honest, I was a little dubious about it when I opened the tin. I hadn’t heard about it before, was wary of its claims about testosterone and was assuming this was going to perform poorly. It easily beat my expectations and did a pretty good job. Not sure I would recommend it because of the bold claims, but provided a solid, if unspectacular, performance.
